The Relic Garden

Ancient stone busts taken over by nature. Pull the moss off, grow it all back, or roll a brand new statue that's already covered in ivy, ferns and the odd snail.

I drew all 120+ parts, rigged and animated them, and set the look and feel of everything around them, from the UI to this page. Every statue is fully playable and customizable.

The collection

No two the same

Every statue is built from 120+ parts I drew by hand. These are a few that showed up. Tap one for a closer look.

How to play

Three things to do

Destroy

Drag across the statue and the plants shake loose. Fire burns them off and leaves scorch marks that stay until you make it rain. Try not to hit the butterflies.

Grow

Pick a brush and paint wildflowers, ferns, moss, ivy or mushrooms wherever you drag. Then let some snails, butterflies and fireflies move in.

Customize

Build your own statue part by part, from the face and hair to the hat, wings and sky. Or hit Randomize and see who shows up. Give it a name and save the ones you like.

How I made it

Every piece drawn by hand

  1. I

    The art

Every bust, plant, snail and butterfly is my drawing. The statues come from my Character Builder: 120+ parts that combine in millions of ways.

  2. II

    The feel

I wanted every touch to get a reaction. Moss shakes loose, vines snap, and the statue blinks back at you.

  3. III

    The build

I designed it, drew everything and art-directed it, and built it with Claude, Anthropic's AI, as my coding partner. It started out as a cleaning game. The more I played with it, the more it turned into a calm little toy.
