A sci-fi rewards campaign for Supra. I was its lead illustrator, drawing everything from the crew and the collectibles to the art for the website's UI.
- 515K+ verified players
- 190+ countries
- 10× the original six-month goal
- 70+ missions
It went on to become Supra's main community platform, Project Blast Off.
Supra wanted its rewards campaign, Countdown to Blast Off, to feel like an adventure, not a sign-up form. It became a sci-fi world: a crew of Cadets, weekly missions, reward crates and collectible Bobblenauts.
As Lead Illustrator I shaped the look and feel together with the art director, and drew the crew and Bobblenaut characters, the mission and crate art, the weekly animated emails and the UI art assets for the website.
Every week shipped a full drop: a new planet, the mission that went with it, a reward crate with three to five new Bobblenauts, and the emails and social graphics to launch it. Over the campaign it added up to 30+ planets and 80+ Bobblenauts in one consistent style.
The Bobblenauts
Bobblehead crew members people unlocked from reward crates. I designed 80+ of them, three to five a week, each with its own costume, props and personality. Vendi3000, the campaign's vending machine mascot, handed them out.
Run the belt with the arrows, or tap a Bobblenaut to flick its head.
A new crate, every week
Every crate drop was announced with a short animated email. I illustrated and animated each one, often as a nod to a film or game the audience loved.
Robbie's run
Starcade was the campaign's arcade, where players ran mini games for a shot at Bobblenauts, merch and real-life prizes like laptops. I designed and built this runner for it: Robbie's run, jump, duck and crash animations, the alien, orbs, glowing mushroom power-up and a four-layer parallax planet.
Turn your phone sideways for the biggest screen.
Click the game, then Space to jump (again in the air for a jet boost), ↓ to duck, M for sound, F for full screen.
Tap the game to jump, tap again in the air to boost. Use the full screen button in the corner for a bigger view.
